David Allen Petefish, Jr., 47, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021.
He was born March 1, 1973, in Orange, California, the son of David Allen, Sr. and Thelma Darlene (Maddox) Petefish. He was a 1991 graduate of Shawnee Heights High School and received his Associates Degree in Business from Highland Community College on a football scholarship.
David was employed by Tecumseh South Elementary School.
He was a member of Topeka Baptist Church.
David married Tabitha Sowers on June 3, 1995 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Brooke Petefish and Paige Petefish; his father David (Karen) Petefish, Sr.; his sister, Cheri (Jeff) Best and their children, Shayna, Matthew and Alecia; his uncle, Walter Maddox, all of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Petefish.
David was a caring father who encouraged and was very active in his daughters'
activities including sporting events, serving as their mentor and coach for many seasons. He also supported his daughter's theater performances. David was an avid Chiefs Fan and season ticket holder for over 15 years. Serving as a foster parent to several children was also an important part of his life. He was a consistent recreational Poker player with his buddies.
A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2020 at Topeka Baptist Church, 4500 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66610. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at the church. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family. The family encourages those attending to wear their best Chiefs attire.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests, memorial contributions made to Tecumseh South Elementary School, 3346 SE Tecumseh Rd, Tecumseh, KS 66542.
