David L. Smith
January 22, 1926 — January 7, 2019
David L. Smith, 92, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019. He was born January 22, 1926 in Wakefield, Kansas, the son of Cameron and Velma (Walters) Smith.
David graduated from Wakefield High School. He was a Marine Corps Veteran during WWII. David earned a Bachelor's Degree from Kanas State University and earned a Master's Degree in Education from Emporia State University. He taught and served as Principal at Grantville Elementary School for over 33 years before retiring in 1987.
David married Suzanne Petersen on July 26, 1952 in Wichita, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include two sons; H.C. Smith of Long Beach, California, Doug Smith of Manhattan, Kansas and his siblings; Robert Smith and Dean Smith both of California.
As per David's wishes, cremation has taken place and no memorial services are planned. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
