David Michael Spies

David M. Spies, 48, of Tecumseh, KS passed away May 29, 2017 due to complications with his cancer. He was born to Kenneth M. and Donna (Baker) Spies on October 9, 1968 in Topeka, KS. They resided in Scott City, MO for a short time during David's childhood but moved back to Topeka. He attended Shawnee Heights High School and received his GED.

He married Amy L. Howard on April 19, 1996 in Topeka, KS. Before becoming disabled, David worked as an IT Specialist and owned his own computer business. During his youth, he played with several bands as the lead guitarist. David loved playing the guitar as well as enjoying fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

David is survived by his loving wife, Amy L. Spies; his children: Brandon M. Spies, Amanda R. Spies and Sarah E. Spies; his parents Donna and Kenneth Spies; and one brother, Chris Spies.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donna and Merlon Baker, and Charles and Delia Spies; and his uncles, Jake Spies and Marvin Baker.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Services, 4020 SW 6th Ave. Topeka. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th and Menoken Road.
