Davie L. Taylor, 83, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at his home. He was born December 7, 1932 in Parsons, KS, the son of Shelby and Velva (Reynolds) Taylor.

Davie was a retired U.S. Army Veteran, serving over 20 years. His career included serving during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He later went to work for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years before retiring in 1992.

Davie was a member of the Association of the United States Army, Philip-Billard Post No. 1650, V.F.W., Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion, the National Association of Letter Carriers and the German Club of Topeka. He did volunteer work for the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center.

Davie married Erika R. Cechova on April 5, 1956 in Kassel, Germany. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Daniel (Lorie) Taylor, David (Audrey) Taylor, Robin (Keith) Guffy, Dean Taylor, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and his two brothers, Mike and Warren Taylor. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
