Delmar Lewis Richards, 80, of Topeka, passed away May 20, 2016 at Alma Manor Nursing Center. He was born October 11, 1935 to Clarence and Ava Richards at Lebanon, Nebraska.
He graduated from high school at Oberlin, Kansas in 1953 and received his degree in computer sciences from the University of Nebraska in 1969. He worked as a senior computer program analyst for Westar Energy and retired in 1995.
He married Ute Gabrielle on November 29, 2004 in Topeka. She survives of the home. Also surviving are his son, Todd Richards of Wichita, Kansas; his daughter, Caren Carlin of Tucson, Arizona; one grandchild, Miranda Richards of Tennessee; one great-grandchild Olivia Rose; one step-son, Michael Reed of Austin, Texas; three step-grandchildren, Alexander Reed, Charlotte Reed and Adam Reed all of Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tamela Richards; his brothers: Howard and Lowell Richards; and his parents.
Del was an avid reader of numerous books and publications. He enjoyed classical and jazz music and played the trumpet. He loved to attend performances at TPAC, the Topeka Civic Theatre, Leid Center in Lawrence and several concerts.
