Deloris Ilene Thompson

Deloris Ilene Thompson, 95, of Topeka, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022.

She was born June 27, 1927, in New Market, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Florence (Wall) Britt. She attended Clarinda High School.

Deloris was employed as a clerk at Dibble's and Harry's IGA for 34 years, retiring in 1990.

Mrs. Thompson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Topeka.

Deloris married Marvin DeVere Thompson on December 21, 1963 in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2017. Survivors include their children, Marvin DeVere Thompson II (Lori), Debbie Bender (Bud), and Christie Hullinger, all of Topeka; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings Marvin (Dorothy) Britt of Clarinda, IA and Charlene Eighmy-Glenn of Loveland, CO and Dean Britt (Charlotte) of Ogden, UT. She was preceded in death by her son Norman.

Deloris enjoyed her family more than anything; she also enjoyed bowling, dancing, gardening, traveling and cooking.

A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10th at the Mount Hope Cemetery and Funeral Chapel at 4700 SW 17th Street in Topeka. She will be interred with her husband Marvin after the service at Mount Hope Cemetery. There will be an open casket and the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9th at the Mount Hope Cemetery and Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
