Dennis E. Affolter

Dennis Eugene Affolter, 69, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019. He was born May 23, 1950 in Clay Center, Kansas, the son of Don and Marilyn Affolter, and grew up on his parent's farm near Morganville, KS.
Dennis graduated from Clay Center High School, where he was selected to all-state teams in basketball, football and track. He received a football scholarship to Emporia State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in May of 1973. Later, he completed the graduate program in banking at the University of Wisconsin. Dennis had a successful career in the banking industry for over 40 years, before retiring in January 2017 from Landmark National Bank.
Dennis enjoyed fishing, tennis, golf, experimenting with new recipes on his Traeger grill, and any activity that allowed him to spend time outdoors. He was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to KU, K-State, and KC Chiefs.
Survivors include his spouse, Michelle Puckett Affolter of 25 yrs., daughter Dr. Kajsa Affolter (Mike) O'Toole (mother, Susan Alberg Affolter), Salt Lake City, UT; son, Brennan Affolter, Topeka; his mother, Marilyn Affolter, Clay Center, KS; brother, Jerry (Marsha) Affolter, Overland Park, KS; brother, David (Cindy) Affolter, Morganville, KS; sister, Jackie (Bill) Chestnut, Salina, KS; twin granddaughters, Rose and Lydia O'Toole; and a third granddaughter O'Toole due in December.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Don Affolter.
Honoring his request, cremation is planned. Private services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dennis' name to WildTrust/Habitats Improvement and Restoration Fund, Kansas Department of Wildlife, 512 SE 25th Ave., Pratt, KS 67124-8174.
