W. Dennis Gamble, 63, Topeka, died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital.
He was born Nov. 16, 1940 in Elkhart, Kansas, the son of Leo E. and Mary Brewer Gamble. He graduated from Dodge City Junior College, and received a BS in Civil Engineering from Kansas State University in 1963. He had lived in Topeka since June, 1966.
Mr. Gamble has worked as a civil engineer for the Kansas Department of Transportation for the past 40 years.
He was a member of the Kansas Anthropological Society, Sons of Union Veterans, Santa Fe Trail Association, the National Association of Professional Engineers and was a sustaining member of the NRA. He served as a volunteer at the Kansas State Historical Society Museum of History and helped restore civil war gravestones.
He is survived by 2 brothers, Bill Gamble of Urbana, IL and Mickey Gamble of Hesston, KS.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel with interment in Topeka Cemetery.
Mr. Gamble will lie in state after noon Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7-9 pm.
