Dewey Eugene Koci

Dewey Eugene "Gene" Koci, 94, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021.
He was born February 12, 1927, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Dewey and Mildred (Whitten) Koci. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1945. He served in the Army as a military policeman from May 1945 to October 1946.
Gene retired from the United States Postal Service after 27 years.
Mr. Koci was a member of the Community Church, of Topeka.
Gene married Josephine Marie Lysek on July 2, 1950 in Topeka at the First Presbyterian Church. She survives, along with his sons, Galen Koci (Marggie) of Auburn, Victor Koci of Meriden, and Milton Koci (Carole) of Topeka; grandchildren Ronda (Jered) Holthaus, Beth (Ryan) Harman, Chad (Karli) Koci, Jennifer (Chuck) Scott, Jessica (Joshua) Smith, Melissa (Joshua) Ludwig, Krystal Koci, Alisha Hopkins, and Adam (Mallory) Koci; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings Russell Koci (Jessie), Virgil Koci, and Gertrude (Don) Bidwell. He was preceded in death by his son, Delmar Koci; daughter, Denise Figgs; parents Dewey and Mildred Koci; siblings, Marjorie Koci, Doris Garcia, Allen Koci, and Max Koci.
Gene was a devout Christian and was always witnessing for Christ. He enjoyed gardening and working on the farm.
A funeral ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka. Interment will follow at Auburn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 30th at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to either Word and Spirit Church, P.O. Box 4233, Topeka, KS, 66604 or Community Church, 1819 SW 21st St, Topeka, KS 66604.
