Diana 'Kay ' Mounger, 56, Topeka, passed away Saturday, December 3, in Topeka. She was born August 25, 1949 in Topeka, the daughter of Cartress and Marguerite Benton. Diana graduated from Topeka High School. She went on to receive her nursing degree and was an LPN for over 30 years. She was employed at Memorial Hospital for many years, then she was employed by the VA Hospital where she worked for the past 13 years in Topeka. She was a member of East Eighth Street Baptist Church for over 30 years and was currently an honorary member of El Shaddai Church of God and Christ.
In 1967 she married Charles V. Bronson, they later divorced. She married Robert L. Mounger on October 18. 1977 in Topeka, and they celebrated their marriage for 27 years. He proceeded her in death in 2004.
She was always full of laughter, loved to cook, play cards, and spend time with her family. She was also an avid bowler, KU Jayhawk fan, and enjoyed NFL football.
Diana was a loving mother and grandmother affectionately known as "Mema". She is survived by three daughters; Audra Bronson, Los Angeles, CA, Shawnette Bronson, Topeka, and Robyn Mounger, Topeka. Surviving also are three step-children; Robert L. Mounger, Jr. , Oceanside, CA, Lori Ann Brady, Kansas City, MO, and Sean Mounger, Tracy, CA, She leaves behind 15 grandchildren, and one God-son. Other survivors include her sister's; Darcelene King, Topeka, and Donna J. Bryant, Dallas, TX, and a brother, Delbert Benton, Topeka.
Funeral services will be 1p.m. Friday at El Shaddai Church of God in Christ. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Diana will lie in state after noon Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
