Diane Burt

Diane C. Burt, 53, of Topeka, died Wednesday, April 13 at her home.

She was born December 3, 1951 in Omaha, NE., the daughter of William and Beverly Childs.

She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1969. After high school she moved to Denver, CO where she was employed as a secretary for an insurance company. She returned to Topeka in 1976 and was employed by Security Benefit Life Insurance Company. She spent the majority of her working life as a home maker, caring for her disabled daughter and her other children. She was an avid gardener and greatly enjoyed the outdoors.

She married Charles Burt on November 11, 1971 in Denver, CO. They later divorced.

Other survivors include; her parents, William and Beverly Childs, Silver Lake; Two daughters; Dana and Chris Burt, both of Topeka; a son, Evan Hammond, Topeka; a sister, Debra Childs of Topeka; two brothers, David Childs and his companion Doris of Topeka and Billy Childs and his wife Jerri of Silver Lake; one granddaughter, Kimber Williams of Topeka and three nieces.

Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday April 18 at Newcomer Family Funeral Home in Topeka.
