Diane Rose Taylor, 70, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023.
She was born January 15, 1952, in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Irvin Joseph and Mary Alice (Doepke) Lassman. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1970 and received a master's degree in library science from Emporia State Teachers College.
Diane was employed by several schools over more than 40 years with her last employer being Chase Middle School.
Ms. Taylor was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church where she played organ. She was active in the Shawnee County Democratic Women's Club and the Retired Teachers' Association. She was a member of the Kansas National Education Association.
Diane married David Taylor in June of 1990 in Topeka at Faith Lutheran Church. He survives, along with Chris Haugsness (Vinecia) of Topeka and Sarah Boyer (Brad) of Topeka; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Irvin and her mother Mary Alice; her brother, Ken Lassman; and her sister Lynda Hildebrand.
Diane loved to teach – she taught painting after retirement. She loved the entertainment arts – going to movies, plays and musicals; and to travel – especially "Mustang Trips."
A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage Boulevard in Topeka. Private family inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka at a later date.
