Dona D. Gardner, 79, of Topeka, passed away Monday, October 30, 2006.
She was born January 1, 1927 in Topeka, the daughter of Clinton and Delta Swader Owens. She graduated in 1945 from Topeka High School.
Dona married Lloyd D. Gardner in 1946; they divorced after 23 years of marriage. She was a homemaker for those 23 years. She later retired from Stormont-Vail as a cashier in the business office. She was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her children, Richard Gardner and wife, Raylene of Dell City, OK and Janice McDonald and husband, Jim of Lyndon, KS; grandchildren, Christi Steward, Shawn Wilson and wife, Lynn, Thomas E. Bombardier and wife, Lesa, Angela Walker and husband, John, Dustin McDonald and wife, Kelly, Jessica Clark and husband, Corey, Destiny Vaughn and husband, Eric, and Cassie Myer and husband, Nick, 10 great grandchildren, and son in law, Thomas Bombardier of Scranton, KS. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Viki Bombardier, in August of this year.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2nd at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum. She will lie in state after 12 noon today at the funeral home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. this evening.
