Donald A. Bower
Donald A. Bower, 81, died Sunday, August 15, 2001, at a local nursing home.
He was born in Topeka, April 11, 1923, in Topeka to A.R.and Mabel Adams Bower.
He married Lula Mae Lawrence on March 22, 1952, in Victoria, Texas. They moved to Topeka in 1960. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2001.
Mr Bower was retired from the U.S. Navy; he also is retired from the Topeka Post Office where he worked in vehicle operations.
He is survived by two sons, John Scott Bower, in Hawaii and Donald A. Bower, Jr, Boston; a daughter Sandra Stroup, Topeka; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr Bower will lie in state after 10:00 a.m., Wednesday where the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 am , Wednesday prior to the service , at Newcomer Family Funeral Home.
