Donald Dean Figgins, age 46, died Thursday evening, October 24, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Healthcare Center in Topeka, KS of complications caused by a severe MRSA infection.
Dean was born February 4, 1967 in Topeka, son of Donald Charles Figgins and Judith Ann Brackett. He spent the majority of life in Topeka and attended Seaman area schools before joining the US Army. He married Ethel Marie "Babe" Lewis in Topeka on December 3, 1993.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kaleb Dean Harden. Survivors include wife, Babe Figgins of Topeka; daughter, Adomma Anna Elizabeth Harden of Topeka; step-sons, Dustin Stephens and Christopher Stephens both of Topeka; step-daughters, Jessie Crowl of Topeka and Danielle Goodwin (Johnathan "JT") of Holton, KS; father, Donald Figgins (Mary Beth) of Meriden, KS; mother, Judith Cole (Judith Baker) of Litchfield Park, AZ; mother-in-law, Delphine Knoxsah of Topeka; sister, Suzette Simpson (Alan) of Quenemo, KS; half-sister, Linda Stevens (David) of Corpus Christi, TX; brothers-in-law, Jeffrey "Bosh" Lewis, Henry Knoxsah (Becky), and James Kleesath all of Topeka; sister-in-law, Martha "Marti" Serl (Greg) of Topeka; 10 grandchildren; and many cousins, nephews and nieces as well as many friends he considered family.
Memorial services will be held at 6pm, Wednesday, October 30 at Hoyt United Methodist Church with a dinner held afterwards. An additional private Native American Indian service will be held in his honor. A benefit memorial is being planned to help cover expenses.
