Donald E. Roettgen, 85, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015. He was born January 29, 1930 in Toledo, OH, the son of Dionys and Pauline Ebrel Roettgen.
Don was an Air Force Veteran during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Don served his country 20 years before retiring 1968. He then went to work for Becker Transport for 14 years and then became a bus driver for the City of Topeka for 14 years. He also was a bus driver for Shawnee Heights U.S.D. 450 for 14 years before retiring at age 81. He was a member of the ATU Local No. 1360.
Don married Judy A. Rowland on June 16, 1956 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include their 6 children, Ronald E. Roettgen, Gary L. Roettgen, David M. Roettgen, Barbara A. Wangerin, Lawrence E. Roettgen and Deborah K. Mitchell, 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Don will be missed by family and friends.
Graveside inurnment services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 in Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St., Topeka, KS 66604. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
