Donald G. "Don" Eggenberger, 89, of Berryton, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
Don was born February 7, 1934 in Wamego, the son of Ulrich and Florence (Lewis) Eggenberger. He graduated from Berryton High School. He was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was employed by Southwestern Bell / AT&T for 37 years before retiring. Don was a member of the American Legion Capitol Post No. 1 and the Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers Club. He also was a founding member of the Shawnee County 4-H Horse Club and served as a trustee on the Monmouth Township Board. He raised Appaloosa Horses for over 35 years.
Don married Elizabeth "Betty" I. Reser on May 26, 1957 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include children, Jeff (Julie) Eggenberger of Topeka, Alan (Desiree) Eggenberger of Berryton and Rita Eggenberger of Topeka, six grandchildren, Clint, Trevor, Morgan, Amber, Sara and Cory, five great-grandchildren and his siblings, Jim (Lucille) Eggenberger of Lawrence and Bonnie Coder of Kingwood, Texas. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Don's Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Private inurnment will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.
