Donald Dean Hale, 88, Topeka, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Midland Hospice House.
Don was born August 23, 1931 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Vergil and Altie (Ford) Hale. He attended school in Bowling Green, KY.
He served in both the Army and Air Force.
He was an over-the-road truck driver for Hill Pet Nutrition, recording over a million miles with no accidents. After retirement, he drove a school bus for Seaman School District.
Don married Virginia Johnson on January 5, 1985 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Donna (Nick) Fernkopf and Terry Roberts, all of Topeka; 4 grandchildren; and step-children, Mike and Diane Johnson, both of Topeka. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Stratton; and brothers, Robert and Tommy Hale.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Burial with military honors will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
