Donald LaVerne Harrison, 89, of Topeka, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015.
He was born January 27, 1926, in Glen Elder, Kansas, the son of Charles LaVerne and Mary Agnes (Neff) Harrison. He was a 1944 graduate of Glen Elder High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Donald was employed by Ed Marlings for 34 years & Midwest Appliance for 11 years. He was a birthright Quaker and a member of Topeka Bible Church.
Donald married Mary Emma Claar on June 28, 1946 in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Tom (Alanna) Harrison, Kay Harrison Taber, Shirley (Paul) Harrison Meissner, and Lynn (Julie) Harrison; sister, Mary (Bob) Brummett; brother, Harry (Pat) Harrison; grandchildren, Jamie (Mark) Taulbee, Amanda (Justin) Volz, Matthew Harrison, Joanna Taber, Caroline (Ryan) Digman, Kendra (Josiah) Feuerbacher, Andrew Meissner, Katelyn (Chris) Blaufuss, and Benjamin Harrison; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, Hadley, and Aidan Varbel, Taran Volz, Jaden Harrison, Haydn Blaufuss, and Madison Feuerbacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law, Dennis Taber.
Donald was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm. Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Topeka Presbyterian Manor, 4712 SW 6th Street, Topeka, Kansas 66606. Private inurnment will be in Shawnee Center Cemetery in Wakarusa, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund, 4712 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66606.
