Donald L. "Don" Lutz

Donald L. "Don" Lutz, 80, of Berryton, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025. He was born July 31, 1944 in Topeka, the son of Oscar and Mabel (Phelps) Lutz.

Don graduated from Berryton High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska. He was employed as a teacher in Parochial Schools in St. Louis, Missouri and Haven, Kansas for 20 years. He then went to work as an Insurance Agent for Thrivent Financial in St. Louis for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.

Don married Dawn Brennan in 1982. They later divorced. Don married Jeanie Stous on June 11, 2011. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Matt (Christine) Lutz of St. Louis, Missouri, two step-children, Sherri (Kyle) Scheideman of Berryton, Kevin (Nancy) Stous of Berryton, five grandchildren, Shelbi (Rusty), Baylie, Abby, Mia and Nolan and his siblings, Alan (Nina) Lutz of Orange County, California, Karen Lona of Sunset Beach, California and several nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his two siblings, Marvin Lutz and Roger Lutz and his brother-in-law, Jack Lona.

A Celebration of Don's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2025 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Inurnment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery southeast of Topeka.
