Donald M. McCoy, Jr., 47, of Overbrook, KS passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017. He was born July 4, 1969 in Kansas City, KS. He lived most of his childhood in Bonner Springs, KS and graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1987. He later received a criminal justice degree from Washburn University, a degree in education from Emporia State and later a degree in Mortuary Science from KCKCC. He worked for the Johnson Co Sheriff's Dept., taught school for several years in the DeSoto and Kansas City, KS area, was a Funeral Director for Fitzgerald's Funeral Home, Ness City, Funeral Director for Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Coffeyville, KS and was last working for Simple Simon's Pizza in Basehor, KS.
Don is survived by his parents, Donald M. McCoy, Sr. and Diane McCoy of Overbrook, KS; one sister, Tammy Urriola of Overland Park, KS; one brother, Josh (Jenn) McCoy of Shawnee, KS; nephews, Ricky and Michael Urriola and one niece, Chloe McCoy. He was much loved by his family and many friends who have fond memories of his friendship, humor and laughter. He loved the Lord and was anxious to be with him.
There will be a "Celebration of Life" service on Saturday, January 21st at Bonner Springs Church of the Nazarene, 742 N. Nettleton, Bonner Springs, KS 66012. There will be a visitation at 10 am and the service at 11 am. The family requests that in lieu of sending flowers that you donate to a memorial fund in Don's name to Bonner Springs Church of the Nazarene.
