Donald Eugene Mize

Donald E. Mize, 78, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021.

He was born September 13, 1942, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Ira and Lyla (Lippincott) Mize.

Donald graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1961. He served in the United States Navy as a Seaman Apprentice during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Ed Marlings as a building maintenance foreman for 13 years. He later was employed by the Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI) for 15 years prior to his retirement in 2006.

Donald was an active member and served as a Deacon for Northland Christian Church, of Topeka.

Survivors include his sons, Matthew (Karen) Mize of Hoyt, KS and Michael (Valerie) Mize of Topeka; his grandchildren, Lucie Mize and Simon Mize; his nephews, Jake, Brent and Jeff Huyett and his sister, Carol Huyett. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Donald enjoyed dancing, music, movies, socializing, humor and ice cream.

Honoring Donald's request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, August 13, 2021 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka, Kansas 66604. Inurnment of Donald's cremated remains will follow.
