Donald Burl Rutter

Donald "Don" B. Rutter, 91, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at a Topeka hospital. He was born October 26, 1931, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Orville and Lydia (Wallace) Rutter.
Don graduated from Pickett High School in St. Joseph. He was a Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean War.
He was employed by Ed Marling's, delivering and reupholstering furniture for almost 40 years before retiring in 1992. After retirement, he spent most of his time in his woodshop reupholstering, refinishing and building furniture for family and customers from the community.
Don married Joyce Boy on May 3, 1951 in St. Joseph, Missouri. His wife of 71 years survives. Other survivors include two sons; Martin Rutter of Topeka, Barry (Pam) Rutter of Carbondale; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Don was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Rutter; and his daughter-in-law, Janice Rutter.
As per Don's wishes, cremation has taken place. Private inurnment will take place in Ridgeway Cemetery at a later date.
