Donald R. Scott

December 20, 1931 — April 23, 2019

Donald Ross Scott, "Don", passed away April 23, 2019, at the age of 87 after a brief battle with cancer. Don was a decorated Korean Veteran who dedicated his life to his family and friends.

Don's passing is proceeded by his parents, Wilbur and Myrtle Scott, of Liberty, MO, and is survived by two brothers, Larry (Laurie-Ann) Scott, of Lincoln, NE and Terry (Donna) Scott, Union Town, PA; his previous wife, Charlene Bryan, and their four sons, Ken (Betsy), Doug (Brenda), Jeff Scott all of Topeka, KS, and Don (Hernan) Scott, of West Hollywood, CA; six grandchildren, Chris and Ryan Scott, of Kansas City, KS, Lindsey Younger, of Topeka, KS, Taylor Scott, of Lawrence, KS, Amanda Huey, of Liberty, MO, Morgan Crawford, of Houston, TX; and five great grandchildren, Sophia, Isabella and Jameson Scott, of Kansas City, KS, Brooklyn Younger, of Topeka, KS, and Carter Huey, of Liberty, MO. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Don was born in Mexico, MO, in 1931. He graduated from high school in Ft. Madison, IA, in 1949 and then attended college at Missouri State Teacher's College in Kirksville, MO. He was drafted into the Korean war in 1951 where his efforts were recognized with the Silver Star Medal, and Purple Heart.

Don enjoyed pheasant and quail hunting, fishing with his father and brothers, working in the yard, listening to music, and watching Western movies and Sports. He was also an accomplished singer and played the trumpet at one time. He will mostly be remembered by his dry sense of humor and uncanny ability to speak bluntly.

Services will be held May 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka.
