Donald Walter "Don" Snodgrass

Donald Walter “Don” Snodgrass, 89, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

He was born August 9, 1934, in Ellsworth, Kansas, the son of Walter and Eunice (Matheson) Snodgrass. He graduated from Tonganoxie High School. He served in United States Army.

Don owned and operated his own trucks for Holton Transport in Holton, Kansas for 30 years until retiring.

Don married Frances B. Snodgrass in 1987 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2014. Survivors include three children, Vickie (Mark) Myers of Wichita, Lonny Snodgrass and his significant other, Deb of Topeka and Donna Jean Lempka and her significate other, Tim of Grand Island, NE; grandchildren, Shawna Lempka and Brandi Lynn (Alex) Wetzel, Chase (Kate) Myers and Linsey Snodgrass; five great-grandchildren, Braxton, Jenna, Lillianna, Jacob and Dustin; his late wife, Frances’s children, Jerry (Julie) Kastner of Topeka, grandsons, Andrew “Drew” Kastner, Matthew (Bri) Kastner, great-grandchildren, Benton Walberg Kastner, Scarlett Kastner and Adeline Frances Kastner; and his siblings, Daniel, Edna, Lois, Norman and Norma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-son, Steve Kastner; and siblings, Ellus, Eunice, Mary Alice, Galen, and Shirley.

Don loved spending time and traveling with wife, Frances prior to her passing, as well as spending time his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a race car enthusiast, building and racing his own cars. He also enjoyed bowling, participating in bowling leagues and gambling.

A private graveside service will be held at West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka.
