Donald R. Toombs

Donald R. Toombs, 86, of Topeka, passed away August 5, 2017 at his home. He was born September 24, 1930 to Virgil Elliot and Berniece Helen (Painter) Toombs at Kansas City, Kansas.
He served his country in the Army stationed in Germany during WWII.
He married Phyllis A. List on September 23, 1995 at Topeka, Kansas.
He worked at the Topeka State Hospital in the maintenance department. He was a security guard at KPERS also.
He was a member of AA celebrating 40 years of sobriety. He enjoyed model trains, photography, gardening and wood working. He made end tables and liked to study American history.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis, his daughter Diane and a niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Terry and John.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service with a Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. also at Dove.
Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st Street, Topeka, KS 66604 or to AA.
