Donald W. True, 62, of Cedar Park, TX, formerly of Topeka, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2012.
He was born October 6, 1949 in Topeka, Kansas. He was a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School and Emporia State University, Kansas. Don retired with 39 years of service for Southwestern Bell-SBC-AT&T Telephone Company in Kansas City, Salina, Hutchinson and Topeka KS and Austin TX. At the time of his death he was employed by Ericsson Telecommunication in Austin, TX. Don is survived by his wife Judy, Cedar Park, Texas and daughter Ann, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His sister Jean Michelson and her husband Paul of Huntington, Indiana and sister-in-law Cheryl True of Overland Park, Kansas, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Don is preceded in death by his brother William "Bill" True and their parents Maxine Evelyn Johnson True and Philip Wayne True formerly of Prairie Village, Kansas.
Don enjoyed participating in several sports in his life including billiards, hang-gliding, wind-surfing, road/mountain biking and most recently R/C soaring sailplanes.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 8 from 4-6 and a funeral on Monday, Jan. 9 at 2:00 pm at the Beck Funeral Home 1700 E. Whitestone (1431) Cedar Park, TX.
A funeral ceremony will be 1 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS 66610. Interment will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mr. True will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m.
