September 13, 1934 — January 23, 2020

Donna Jean Hodges was born September 13, 1934 to Tom and Rhetta (North) Hodges in Oskaloosa, Kansas Donna was the youngest of 5 children. Donna attended school in Bartlesville, OK. She graduated in 1951.

Donna had 5 children and she devoted her life to them. Donna also had 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren- and 5 great-great-grandchildren. The happiest times of her life were going to their activities, school and sporting events.

The grandchildren and great-grandchildren spent many hours at their Ginga's house. She hosted Easter Egg hunts, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve celebrations and many birthday parties at her house. One of the traditions was black-eyed peas and cornbread on New Year's Day.

Donna enjoyed working in her yard and flower gardens, and passed her love of tending to them on to many family members. Donna was an avid reader, liked crossword puzzles and to cook for her family. Donna was known for making the best gumbo in the world. She enjoyed "trying" to teach the younger generations how to make that special dish.

Donna was known by many names including, Mom, Mama, Ginga, Dramo, John, Aunt Donna and Granny. Many of her kids and grandkid's friends also called Donna, Mom or Ginga.

During Donna's retirement years, she traveled to Iowa to visit John Wayne's birthplace and to Turkey, TX to the festival honoring Bob Wills. Donna's favorite song was "Faded Love" and favorite movie was "Gone with the Wind". Donna met Joe Catron in 2000 and enjoyed traveling and going to the casino with him.
