Donna Sue Messer's journey ended at her daughter's home in Topeka, Kansas on December 29, 2010 at the age of 65 from the battle of cancer.
Her journey began on July 5, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas following her birth to Robert Wilson Fishbaugh and Bonnie Irene (Skinner) Fishbaugh. On her journey, Donna graduated from Bonner Springs High School and completed one year of college. She received her license as a registered nurse and worked with geriatrics for over 40 years. She served her country in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. She married and gave birth to a son, Brian Edward Green.
Her journey later led her to Laney Messer and on July 9, 1976 they were married. They moved to Stigler, Oklahoma and made their home there. She was a member of Heavenbound Free Will Baptist Church in Enterprise, Oklahoma where she worked in the bus ministry and with the women's auxiliary.
As we all know, sometimes our journey seems sad as it was for Donna when she was preceded in death by her father, Robert Fishbaugh; mother, Bonnie Fishbaugh; step-mother, Irena Fishbaugh; brother, Robert E. Fishbaugh; and infant daughter, Lisa Marie Jackson.
She leaves behind her husband, Laney Messer and her children, Brian Green, Linda Lee (Bob), Carol Zwiesler (Bob), Laney Messer Jr. (Diane), Willa Messer (Rick); grandchildren, Brandon, Sierra, Austin, Brandon, Jeremy, Cole, Wyatt, Durand, Randal, Angel, and Skye; great-grandchildren, Braden, Clayton, Jadyn, Jordyn, Cameron, Kali, Makiya, Zander, Brook'lin and Paytence; two sisters, Gail Wycoff (Charles) and Jean Peters (Jack); many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Even though her earthly journey has come to an end her heavenly journey has only begun. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
Donna's postcard from heaven would say "I WISH YOU WERE HERE!"
