Donna Rae (Felch) Seastrom was born January 22nd, 1965 and passed on February 10, 2011 at her home in Scranton, KS. Donna had a deep-seated reverence for life and everything in it. Her love for animals and people was life long and true. It lead her to become a nurse upon graduating from Mission Valley High School and then from Washburn University with a BSN in 1988.
She worked at the VA Hospital, was an Oncology Nurse for Cotton-O'Niel and then became a Home Health Nurse. Donna had a mischievous sense of humor and was known to pull pranks on co-workers, family and patients. She was devoted to giving the best care possible to her patients even to the extent of paying for food, medicine and giving extra assistance when she felt it was needed.
Donna was also deeply invested in her family. She was always available and eager to laugh, cry or defend her loved ones. She gave everything she had to raising her daughter and to the foster children she raised in her home. Donna had an understanding of nature and compassion for animals. It was not unlike her to go to any lengths to save an animal from bottle feeding a newborn pig to climbing into a well to save a half grown calf.
Her 46 years were filled with family and friends including a surviving husband, Marten Seastrom and an 11 year old daughter. Survivors also include her mother, Mona Felch, father, Ken Felch, brother, David Felch, sister, LeAnn Retzlaff, her grandmother, three nephews and four nieces whom she loved dearly.
The graveside service will be at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery at 3616 S.W. Sixth St., Topeka, KS 66606 on Wednesday February 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the "Donna Seastrom Memorial" fund at Envista Credit Union.
