Doreen Lawrence, 85 of Topeka, passed away March 23, 2016. She was born at Cardiff, Wales to George and Gladys (Morgan) Herbert on October 27, 1930. She was raised at Rhanda South, Glamorgan Wales. Doreen attended school in Ipswich at Springfield General School and graduated on August 3, 1948. She married Guy E. Stockdale in 1952 in England. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1971.
Doreen married Bob Lawrence on November 8, 1989 at Manhattan, Kansas. She was employed as a nurse at Stormont Vail Medical Center until her retirement in 1989. She also served as a foster grandparent at KNI. Doreen liked to play video poker and video slots.
She is survived by her son, Gerald Powell and daughter, Sandra, both in the UK, her sons: Ronnie Stockdale of Topeka and David Stockdale of Colorado Springs, CO; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, all of Ipswich, UK.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. at 301 SW Elmwood Ave in Topeka, Kansas on April 1, 2016.
