Doretha Williamson

Doretha Mae Williamson, 79, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at a local hospital.
Doretha was born February 20, 1930 in Dodge City, the daughter of Raymond and Opal (Nicolay) Briggs. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1948.
She taught English and Home Economics at Linwood High School.
She was a member of Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene where she had been involved with Missions.
Doretha married Bill Williamson on December 25, 1954 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include daughters; Denise Goodlove, Olathe, Dellene Williamson, DeJuana Williamson, both of Topeka; son, Bruce (Keirston) Williamson, Topeka; grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) McLaughlin, Lauren (Mike) Richardson, Bradley (McKenzie) Williamson, Wendy (Tom) Bruce; six great grandchildren; five sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Doretha will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday with visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
