Doris DeLong, 85, of Tecumseh, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Stormont-VailHospital from complications following a stroke.
She was born October 1, 1922 in Tecumseh, KS the daughter of Howard and Ethel Howbert.
Doris was married to Frank J. DeLong in January 1947. He preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by her loving son and daughters, Edward and Carol DeLong, Linda and Gary Montgomery and Doris and Bruce Senne. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Doris was also preceded in death by her loving sister Dorothy Boley. She is also survived by her loving brother and sister-in-law Larry and Velma Howbert and two additional siblings.
Doris retired from the State of Kansas in 1984. She was a very faithful member of Berryton United Methodist church where she was very involved in church functions.
She was very active with her children and loved to travel with them. She had a passion for fishing and playing cards with her friends.
She will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at the BerrytonUnitedMethodistChurch. Burial will follow in the Penwell-GabelCemetery.
