Doris J. Dowell, 95, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019. She was born February 26, 1924 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Ethel Floyd.
Doris had resided in Topeka since 1972. She was employed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas for many years prior to retiring.
Doris married Arnold E. Dowell on June 19, 1942 in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2001.
Survivors include three children; Arnie L. Dowell of Texas, Larry D. Dowell of Berryton, Jeffrey Dowell of Arizona, two grandchildren; Shelly Hoenig and Dawn Coffman, two great-grandchildren; Paige Coffman and Heath Hoenig and her sister; Sandy of California.
Cremation has taken place and as per Doris's wishes, no memorial services are planned. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Helping Hands Humane Society 5720 SW 21st Topeka, KS 66604.
Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family.
