Doris Jean Wulfkuhle, 87, of Berryton, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Presbyterian Manor.
Doris was born on March 30, 1924 in Wakarusa, KS the daughter of Fredrick P. and Ethel (Lowes) Dickensheets.
Doris graduated from Berryton High School in 1942 and worked in the Santa Fe Offices for 8 years. She became a homemaker. Together she and her husband owned and operated a Dairy Farm for 20 years and an Egg Factory for 15 years, retiring in 1985.
Doris was a member of the Berryton United Methodist Church and participated in Vacation Bible School, Sunday school and the United Methodist Women group. She was a project leader in the Riverside 4-H Club for many years.
She was married on April 29, 1950 to Clarence A. Wulfkuhle in Topeka.
Doris is survived by her husband, Clarence of Berryton; her children, Tom Wulfkuhle and wife Janet, Siri Higgs and husband Bill, and Bruce Wulfkuhle all of Berryton. Sister, Pluma R. Parks of New Jersey. Four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ethel Dickensheets, brother, Louis Dickensheets, her sisters Florence Thompson and Marjorie Hentzler, and a grandson, Jeffery Cothran.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2011at Berryton United Methodist Church, 7010 SE Berryton Rd, Berryton, KS 66409. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Wulfkuhle will lie in state after 3 p.m., Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Berryton United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice, 2231 SW Wanamaker Road, Suite 202, Topeka, KS 66614.
