Doris Maxine Bush

Doris Maxine Bush, 94, of Topeka, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015. She was born May 14, 1921 in Jewell County, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph and Bessie Kasselhut Hockett.
In 1942, she married Kenneth E. Bush and lived most of her adult life in Los Angeles where she was named 1996 Bell California Woman of the Year for outstanding volunteer service. She retired from Custom Building Products in California.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961, her parents, a twin sister Marjorie Hummer, and a brother Warren Hockett. She is survived by son Gregory Bush; daughter, Kimberly Dettrey, California; and sisters Jean Penry, Meriden; Alyce Frost, Georgia; Dona Waldo, Becky Hodges and Nancy Redd, Topeka and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Private interment will take place in Topeka Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Rolling Hills and Grace Hospice for the love, care and compassion given to Maxine.
