Doris "Jean" Petersen, 87, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born November 8, 1933 in Powhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Leo and Dorothy (Hayworth) Poston.
Jean was employed by Sherwin-Williams for 48 years before retiring in 2015. She enjoyed flowers.
Jean married John Petersen in 1951. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her great-grandson, Bryson Swader and her siblings, Catherine Cashman, Bob Poston, Calvin Poston and Bernice Kidwell.
Survivors include children, Lonnie (Kim) Petersen of Topeka, Ronda Albright (Richard Cowhick) of Topeka, six grandchildren, Jeremy (Heather), Jennifer (Chris), Cassidy (James), John, Cody (Sadie) and Danny, five great-grandchildren with two on the way.
Jean will lie in state from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2021 at the funeral home and burial will follow in Netawaka Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
