Dorothea F. Brown

Dorothea "Dot" Brown, 86, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009.

She was born January 15, 1923 in Emporia, KS, the daughter of Chester and Madge (Parker) Lawson. She was a graduate of Emporia High School.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She had resided at Lexington Park Independent Living.

Dot married John U. Brown on July 13, 1941 in Emporia. They celebrated 62 years together until his passing on January 28, 2004. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Slimmer (Gary), Topeka; her son, John L. Brown (Linda), Albuquerque, NM; four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; her brother, George Lawson (Peggy), Yorba Linda, CA; her sister, Myrtle Barker, Mesa, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a sister.

Dot was cremated. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Lexington Park Independent Living, 1011 SW Cottonwood Ct., Topeka, KS. Private inurnment will be at Circleville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 5919 NW Glenwood Dr., Topeka, KS 66617 or to Midland Care Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
