Dorothy A. Liggett, 73, Topeka, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at a Topeka Hospice House where she had been a patient for a year.
She was born April 2, 1928, in Emporia, to George and Maude Wyatt Noyes. She spent her early life in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School in 1946. She moved to Topeka in 1948 and graduated from Stormont-Vail Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. She was a nurse and worked for Dr. Charles Pierce for many years.
She was a member of First Free Methodist Church for more than 50 years.
She married Ralph E. Liggett on Oct. 9, 1949, in Topeka. He survives. A grandson preceded her in death.
Other survivors include two daughters, Doris I. Hobbs and Donna K. Park, both of Topeka; a sister, Nadine Elam, Winfield; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Free Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Liggett will lie in state after noon Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel Funeral Home, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
