Dorothy Anna Bowman, 95, Topeka, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020 at Plaza West.
Dorothy was born in Topeka on August 3, 1924 to Willard Eugene Black and Carolina Wilhelmena Lang. Dorothy attended Topeka Schools and graduated from Topeka High School in 1942.
Shortly before graduating, she met the love of her life on a blind date and had to wait until the end of the war to marry. On January 22, 1946, Dorothy was married to Allen Dee Bowman. They spent 64 years together, mostly in Topeka. In 1972, they moved to Estes Park, CO for 2 years and then spent 10 years in Phoenix, AZ. He died February 5, 2010.
Dorothy was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad, Luce Press, Topeka Lutheran School and Blue Cross. She enjoyed playing bridge with good friends, traveling to Panama and Hawaii and many places around the country. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors include children, Karen Simecka, Steve Bowman, Dee Bowman and Michael Bowman; grandchildren, Natalie Bowman, Laura Odell; and great-grandson, Henry Zell.
Dorothy's wish was for cremation to take place and burial will be at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery.
