Dorothy (Jones) Ward, 94, of Topeka, passed away Thursday May 15, 2014. Dorothy was born September 21, 1919 in Radnor, Ohio, the daughter of Ed T. and Mae Jones. She was a registered nurse in Columbus, Ohio.
Dorothy married Clyde E. Ward on January 26, 1946 in Delaware, Ohio. Clyde worked for the federal bureau of prisons for 25 years. They made their home in Chillicothe, OH, Tucson, AZ, Lompoc, CA and retired from Leavenworth, KS. They retired in 1972 and moved to Sarasota, FL for 27 years where she was a member of Sweet Adeline's. Dorothy resided at McCrites Plaza for the past 7 years where she was an avid Bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Clyde on May 16, 2006. Survivors include her daughter, Ellen Pereira and husband Gene, Shawnee Mission, KS; son, Mark Ward and wife Kathy, Tecumseh, KS; grandchildren, Mark Ward, Paige Ward, Kevin Pereira and wife Cary, Mark Pereira and wife Bridget; and great-grandchildren, Jake, Tess, Cy, Joe and Ella Pereira.
No services are scheduled. Private inurnment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
