Dorothy E. Godfrey

Dorothy E. Godfrey, 88, Topeka, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born May 29, 1916 in Holton. Dorothy was a Topeka resident most of her life and worked as a mental health nurse at Topeka State Hospital for many years. She married Charles Godfrey on Dec. 7, 1935, in Topeka. Survivors include a sister, Verba Long, San Jose, Calif.; a granddaughter, Linda Osborne and husband, Mike, Newnan, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; cousins; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; her mother, Eva Coffin; a son, Norman Godfrey; a daughter, Delores Sisson; two sisters, Velma Williams and Mildred DeGraff; and three brothers, Thomas Coffin, Theodore Coffin and Donald Coffin. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Godfrey will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel after 2 p.m. Tuesday, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be b e made to Meals on Wheels, 1500 S.W. 10th, Topeka, 66604, or Midland Hospice House, 200 S.W.
