Dorothy Laverne Hendrix

Dorothy L. Meredith Hendrix was born Nov.15, 1928 to Walter & Myrtle (Metzger) Nesbitt in Ozawkie, KS. Dorothy came to rest on Oct. 19, 2019.
Dorothy (Dort) graduated from Ozawkie High School.
She was a member of Terra Heights Baptist Church.
She retired from the State of Kansas after 27 years of service.
Dorothy loved to travel and did some volunteer work in her early retirement years.
Dorothy married Gerald 'Jim' Meredith (dc'd) on Jan. 24, 1948.
Dorothy later married Don Hendrix (dc'd).
She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Velda 'Pete' Barron and Helen Welborne and a sister-in-law, Shirley Nesbitt.
Dorothy and Jim's surviving children are Brenda, Gerald 'Jerry' (Katrina) & Barton 'Bart'. Other survivors include her brother, Ronald 'Bud' Nesbitt, 11 grandkids, 31 great grandkids, 1 great great grandson, 2 great great grandbabies due soon and multiple nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota. Burial will be in the Ozawkie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Dorothy has requested any donations be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society.
