Dorothy K. Carothers

Dorothy K. Carothers, 97, of Overbrook formerly of Carbondale died Thursday, June 24, 2004 at a Overbrook nursing home. She was born on June 26, 1906 in Topeka, the daughter of Joseph S. and Florence M. Brown Longshore. She married Henry H. Carothers on December 5, 1928. He preceded her in death in October of 1993. A grandson also preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, Henry Carothers, Jr. of Hanover, Michigan, Donald Carothers and Melvin Carothers, both of Topeka, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery on S.E. Ratner Rd. Mrs. Carothers will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday.
