Dorothy Mildred "Dot" Firestone, 90, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012.
Dot was born July 19, 1921 in Steinauer, NE, the daughter of Bryan H. and Mildred (Tiess) Kehmeier. She graduated from St. Francis High School in St. Francis, KS. She attended Wantland Business College in Denver, CO.
She worked at The Brown Palace Hotel in Denver and Merchants National Bank in Topeka where she met Sims. Dot was a homemaker for many years, and she loved spending time in her kitchen and was a wonderful cook.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Shawnee Country Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary Antique Automobile Club.
Dorothy married Sims V. Firestone, Jr. on August 3, 1959 in Denver. He died January 14, 1998. Survivors include daughters, Marla (Richard) Malloy, Topeka; Jane Firestone, Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Bryan (Sandy) Cowsert, Angie Malloy, Joel Brajkovich, Alison Malloy; 7 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Terri Takish; sister, Korean Warner; and brother, Keith Kehmeier.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation. Private family inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to a charity of the donors choice sent in care of Penwell-Gable Southwest Chapel.
