Dorothy P. Tolin, 95, of Topeka, died on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Homestead Assisted Living in Auburn.
Dorothy was born on December 31, 1919 in Blue Rapids, KS the daughter of Francis and Lillie (Blass) Cary. She graduated from Soldier High School.
Dorothy was married to James W. Tolin on April 23, 1938 in Soldier, Kansas; he preceded her in death on May 3, 1983.
She was a longtime member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and was a founder of the Tuesday Caring Callers. She was an active volunteer and served on several community boards.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Marion) Callahan of Gardner, KS; her two sons, James W. Jr. (Rosalind) Tolin of Roxboro, NC and Edwin D. (Sharon) Tolin of Auburn; seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters, and one brother.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00p.m. on Sunday, April 19 at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 20 at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan Ave., Topeka. Burial will follow at Soldier Cemetery in Soldier, KS at 2:30 p.m. on the day of the service.
