Dorothy M. "Dot" Watt, 80, Topeka, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 at Aldersgate Village. Born on July 4, 1928 in Maple Hill, KS, the daughter of Francis P. and Verna (Stone) Deiter.
Dot married Joseph Lowe Watt on the 7th day of August 1954 in St. Marys, KS. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1966.
She worked at Hallmark as a young woman while helping on the family farm, later becoming the Maple Hill Grade School Cook. Dot was a homemaker during her children's youth while working at Barrett's Grocery. In the early 80's she began her second career as a stocker for Fleming Distribution Center. More recently she was a greeter at Wal-Mart.
Dot was a member of the American Legion Post #130 Women's Auxiliary.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy and her husband, Gregg Davis, one son, Joe and his wife, Amy Watt; four grandchildren, Kyle and Michelle Davis and Ericka and Joseph Watt; three brothers, Melvin (Charlotte), and Howard (Louise) Deiter of Maple Hill and Bill (Eloise) Deiter of Topeka; one sister, Maxine Bronaugh of Maple Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Glen, Robert and Harold Deiter and one sister, Shirley Meier.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tues., June 30th at Christ The King Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Dorothy will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. tomorrow at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
