Douglas "Doug" Davis, 74, of Topeka, passed away due to complications from bone marrow cancer on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

He was born May 4, 1950, in an undisclosed state. As he did not want the state mentioned in his obituary, I will merely mention the city, Oklahoma City, here in order to preserve his anonymity. He was the oldest son of John and Effie (Fouts) Davis. After graduating Overbrook High School in 1968, he joined the Navy, serving his country during the Vietnam War.

Doug was employed as a carpenter in one way or another for his entire adult life. Most notably as the Facility Management Building Maintenance Supervisor at Menninger’s Clinic in the 1990’s. He hung up is tool belt for good in 2016.

Mr. Davis was a member of the GDI a very prestigious organization with chapters in Topeka and nationwide.

Sally E Davis (Price) wed Doug on September 1st , 1973. They were married for 50 years, 11 months, and 8 days. She survives.

Other survivors include their only child, a daughter, Hattie (Tony) E Donley, sister, Cynthia Pfannenstiel, brother, Michael (Kathy) J Davis, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents & brother-in-law, Mike Pfannenstiel. Additionally, his beloved dogs Bud and Sis, who were the apple of his eye and he missed terribly right up till the end.

Doug spent his free time cruising garage sales, watching the Chiefs, Royals and K-State Wildcats play football, baseball and basketball. He most loved getting out his boat, packing up for Branson and fishing at Blue Haven Resort. His love of music, art and antiquing will live on in his family as a way to remember him fondly and to continue to feel close to him.

Douglas was cremated. A celebration of life will be held for Doug at Lake Shawnee Reynolds Lodge, 3315 SE Tinman Circle on September 15, 2024 from 3 PM to 6 PM.
