Douglas E. "Doug" Funk, 72, of Topeka, passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born April 10, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Edward Charles and Genevieve Marie (Manahl) Funk.
Doug graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in Waterloo, Iowa and attended Washburn University. He was employed as a Sales Associate for Western Associates and Vernon Company for many years before retiring. Doug and his wife owned and operated First Place Awards, Inc. for several years. He was a member of Grace Bible Church.
Doug married Phyllis K. Reigle on August 4, 1972 in Wamego. She survives. Other survivors include children Eric (Judi) Funk of Topeka, Kimberly (Seth) Wescott of Shawnee, Kansas, Shannon (Brad) Kilmartin of Topeka; eight grandchildren Lori, Dawn, Gavin, Brayden, Ryan, Colton, Aubrey and Ashton; three great-grandchildren Mason, Ian and Kayden; and a sister Marcia Withrow of Austin, Texas. Also surviving is Chance, his faithful dog.
As per Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place. Graveside inurnment services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association of Kansas, 8400 W. 110th Street, Ste. 130, Shawnee Mission, Kansas 66210.
Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
