Douglas Norman Gerisch was born August 10, 1957. He passed away on February 25, 2016 at 5:40 a.m. at the age of 58.
Doug grew up in Richland, Ks; until the family moved to Overbrook in 1972.
He graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 1975. He worked for the Kansas Highway Dept. for a few years, and the gravel company in Osage City. He then went to work at Westar Lawrence Energy Center as a mechanical maintenance worker until his retirement in Sept. 2015 after 35 years. Doug was married to Linda Peterson and they had one son Neil. He later married Jennifer Reser and they had two sons Keith and Nathan.
Doug loved farming, fishing, hunting mushrooms and deer and having fish frys for family and friends. Doug could weld about anything he put his mind to. One of his creations was a can crusher and woodspliter.
Doug had been a member of the Masons Ridgeway Lodge #62 and the Arab Shrine.
He was also a fair board member for the Overbrook Osage County Fair. At fair time you could always find him at the Arena Cook shack.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ellen May (Rice) Gerisch.
He is survived by his father Norman Neil Gerisch; sister Karla K. Gerisch; three sons: Neil Douglas Gerisch, Keith William-Lee Gerisch, and Nathan Bradley Gerisch; and one granddaughter Athena Marie Gerisch, who always made Doug smile and his eye's shine.
